厦门kariFor品牌主营咖喱菜式，酱料是从自然植物中提取香料调制而成，纯粹而质朴，
项目选址于厦门沙坡尾避风坞，甲方和设计团队默契达成了希望这次改造能传递出本土咖喱新秀品牌的精神。
沙坡尾——厦门古港口，城市大建设中的历史幸存儿，骑楼、宫庙、避风坞等老旧建筑是它的底色，充分展现了城市渔港的历史肌理。不断出现的新兴业态店铺、文创集市、艺术工作室以及随处抬头可见的摩天楼为沙坡尾注入了新的活力。新旧共生的建筑、多元交融的文化形成了延绵数百年的沙坡尾特有城市风貌，这里有别于闽南红砖风貌的城市立面，是城市面貌多样性的标本，也是这个城市的“弄潮儿”。
The brand of Xiamen KariFor specializes in curry dishes. The sauce is made with spices extracted from natural plants, purely and simply. This project is located in Xiamen City’s Shapowei Typhoon Shelter, and the Party A and design team have reached a tacit agreement to expect that this renovation can convey the spirit of a local emerging curry brand.
Shapowei – an ancient Xiamen port and a historical survivor of the urban construction, features old buildings such as arcades, temples, and typhoon shelters, fully showcasing the historical texture of the city’s fishing port. The emerging new-style format shops, cultural and creative markets, art studios, and skyscrapers everywhere have injected new vitality into Shapowei. The symbiosis of the old and new buildings and the diverse blending culture have formed the unique urban style of Shapowei that has lasted for hundreds of years. Different from the urban facade of red brick style in southern Fujian, it is a specimen of the diversity of the urban features as well as a “tide rider” of the city.

场域特征
Field Characteristics
初探现场后，建筑位于街道拐角处，一层是不等宽的三开间门面，正对斑马线，内部空间急促，中心是两根间距不到一米的柱子，又因其不规则的平面构成了多个夹角空间。二层是简易的双坡房屋和三角形露台，以及一处卫生间，三角形的露台区域朝向沙坡尾。如何利用场地特征、梳理空间关系、优化整体的空间体验是本项目主要构思和探讨的问题。
After exploring the site, people find that the building is located at the corner of the street. The first floor is a three-compartment facade with the unequal width, facing the zebra crossing. The internal space is extremely hasty, with two columns spaced less than one meter apart in the center, and multiple angular spaces form due to their irregular planes. The second floor is a simple double slope house with a triangular terrace, as well as a bathroom. The triangular terrace area faces the end of the sand slope. In this case, how to utilize the characteristics of the site, sort out spatial relationships, and optimize the overall spatial experience, is the main concept and exploration of this project.

Design Concept
在此条件下，设计团队回答了如何在城市滨海地段下塑造属于厦门的kariFor “餐食空间”。设计源于场地，追溯历史，项目所处地段区域在历史上曾经遍布礁石。塑造一处拥有海港边礁石下特质的餐食空间，延续场地固有特征，“海港礁石”概念便孕育而生。海港错落堆叠的礁石也犹如咖喱一般，皆源于大自然的馈赠。
Under this circumstance, the design team responded how to shape the kariFor “dining space” belonging to Xiamen in the urban coastal area. The design originates from the site, tracing back to history, and the area where the project is located was once covered with reefs throughout history. Correspondingly, creating a dining space with the characteristics of a harbor reef, and continuing the inherent characteristics of the venue, nurtured the concept of “harbor reef”. The scattered and stacked reefs in the harbor are like curry, all derived from the gifts of nature.

城市表情
City Expression
沙坡尾片区的城市街道表情丰富且多样，城市的基调犹如海风拂面般清新透彻，符合海的气质。“海港礁石”延续了海的风格，大小不一的礁石堆叠在偶然和理性间徘徊。自然界建筑物都在与地球引力做博弈，故此，竖向的石块较为理性地尊重原有的纵向结构，水平石块相对偶然些，石块与石块间留出了缝隙和开口，小的缝隙成了光的路径，大的开口成了与街道空间对话的窗口。建筑展现的表情希望能激发街区的活力，延续沙坡尾片区的“多元共生文化”，同时，建筑形象设计也传递出餐厅品牌kariFor源自厦门岛，清晰明确。
The urban streets in the Shapowei area possess abundant and diverse expressions, and the city’s style is as fresh and transparent as the sea breeze, in line with the temperament of the sea. The “Harbor Reef” continues the style of the sea, stacking between randomness and rationality with various sizes. Natural buildings are playing a game with the gravity of the Earth. Hence, vertical stones are more rational in respecting the original vertical structure. Horizontal stones are relatively occasional, leaving gaps and openings between them. Small gaps become paths of light, while large openings become windows for dialogue with street space. The expression displayed by the building anticipates to stimulate the vitality of the block and continue the “diverse symbiotic culture” of the Shapowei area. Meanwhile, the architectural image design also clearly and definitely conveys the canteen brand kariFor originating from Xiamen Island.

庇护所
Shelter
建筑紧邻城市道路，车水马龙的交通容易干扰空间气息，结合道路斑马线布置出入口，食客藉由迎面墙转身进入室内，避免了开口直面马路的唐突。礁石空间的做法谋求塑造一处相对独立的餐食空间载体，隔绝一墙之外的喧嚣，让路过海岸触碰海浪的食客踏入这个空间时，便能够感受到安静与自在的庇护。
The building is adjacent to urban roads so that the crowded traffic can easily interfere with the spatial atmosphere. In combination with the zebra crossing layout of the road, diners enter the room by turning to face the wall, avoiding the abrupt opening of the road. The approach of reef space seeks to create a relatively independent dining space carrier, which isolates the hustle and bustle outside a wall, and allows diners who pass by the coast and touch the waves to feel the quiet and comfortable shelter when entering this space.

感知路径
Perceptual Pathway
进入的灰空间内退而低矮，使得外部体量明确而结实，室内空间围绕两根柱子塑造出的四边形微景观布置，纵向的柱子拉伸了空间竖向尺度，微景观和柱子界定了餐座、入口玄关、走道等不同功能，同时延伸了空间深度，在局促的尺度里营造了空间层次。因场地尺度受限，玄关左转，宛转而狭小的楼梯尺寸犹如岩石中人工开凿出来的台阶，人被引导进来的光线吸引拾级而上，顶层低矮的层高作为餐食空间更为静谧、亲切。推门而出视线开阔起来，在围绕三角形微景观的露台上可眺望厦门港过去与现代的城市图腾，露台的布置提供了一种新的功能可能可供不同时令季节下多样的经营性活动空间之用。
The gray space that enters recedes and becomes low, making the external volume clear and sturdy. The indoor space is arranged around a quadrilateral micro landscape shaped by two columns, and the vertical columns stretch the vertical scale of the space. The micro landscape and columns define different functions such as dining seats, entrance entrances, and walkways, while extending the depth of the space and creating a spatial hierarchy in a limited scale. Owing to the limited size of the venue, the entrance turns left, and the narrow staircase size is like a manually-carved step in the rock. People are attracted by the guiding light and climb up the stairs. The low height of the top floor serves as a dining space that is more peaceful and hospitably. Pushing the door opens up the view: from the terrace surrounding the triangular micro landscape, people can overlook the past and modern urban totems of Xiamen Port. The layout of the terrace provides a new function that is likely to be used for diverse business activities in different seasons.

餐食氛围
Dining Atmosphere
如何思考餐食空间中食客、食材、食室三者之间的关系？不规则的石块堆叠，自然而然形成了缝，有了缝就给光留下的光的路径，阳光从这些缝隙温柔的切入，室内的空间就有了光的图像，绿叶苔藓与光的对话，让空间情绪瞬时自在起来。餐室夜晚的灯光，从这些缝隙迸射到城市街道，形成不同方向的光带，清晰且明亮，建筑犹如夜晚城市街道的发光宝盒。
How to ponder the relationship among customers, ingredients, and the dining room in the dining space? The irregular stacking of stones naturally forms gaps, leaving a path of light for the light. The sunlight gently cuts through these gaps, creating an image of light in the indoor space. The dialogue between green moss and light makes the spatial emotions instantly feel at ease. The night lights of the dining room burst into the city streets from these gaps, forming distinct and bright bands of light in different directions. In this way, the building is like a shining treasure box of the city streets at night.

碰触材质
Touch Material
礁石的肌理尺度面向城市，近人尺度运用细腻可触碰的面材，光线被建筑表皮柔化，声音被吸收。玻璃作为消隐的作用，不参与空间职能的分配。藤木家具和天然石桌础的材质在空间中成为展台，展示质感的餐具和美食。
The texture scale of the reef caters for the city, adopting delicate and tactile surfaces with the “proximity scale”, where light is softened by the building surface and sound is absorbed. Glass, as a hidden material, does not participate in the distribution of spatial functions. The materials of rattan furniture and natural stone table foundations serve as exhibition booths in the space, showcasing textured tableware and delicacies.

“海港礁石”努力捕捉自然界的自然，捕捉空间的原始状态，寻求在喧嚣的港湾中一方宁静之所。
The “Harbor Reef” strives to capture the natural world, capture the primitive state of space, and seek a peaceful place amidst the hustle and bustle of the harbor.
