午观一个承载东方美学与现代生活理念的新中式家居品牌無观建筑事务所受邀在北京老佛爷百货为其打造一个持续3个月的快闪店,我们希望通过一个装置将品牌哲学与展览零售结合到一起,站在东西方的角度进行思考,尝试更多的可能性。
Wu Guan, a new Chinese-style furniture brand that carries the aesthetics of the East and the concepts of modern life, invited Wu Guan Architecture Office to create a three-month pop-up store at La Fayette Galleries Beijing. We aimed to merge the brand’s philosophy with exhibition and retail through an installation, pondering from both Eastern and Western perspectives and exploring more possibilities.

午观要展出的产品系列主要以“退旧、新生、荣归”为主要理念,并从生肖蛇身上提取了设计元素。我们从早期伏羲女娲图中发现其下半身蛇尾呈现出相互缠绕状态,这也是早期人类对蛇和自然的崇拜,象征一种宇宙秩序和阴阳和谐。因此我们试图将这种“缠绕、平衡”为设计的起点,再结合材料进行设计。
Wu Guan’s product series on display revolves around the themes of “declining old, renewing life, and returning with honor”, drawing design elements from the zodiac sign of the snake. From earlyFuxi and Nuwa paintings, we noticed their lower bodies as intertwined snake tails, representing early human worship of snakes and nature, symbolizing cosmic order and the harmony of yin and yang. Therefore, we sought to use “intertwining and balance” as the starting point for our design, incorporating materials accordingly.

项目位于北京老佛爷百货西门大厅,三面均为交通空间,面积为30平米,场地中有一个结构柱。快闪店要照顾到商场三个人流朝向且产品不被遮挡。因此我们将快闪店设计成展览和零售相结合的装置,在与场地结构柱形成一个整体。
The pop-up store is located in the west entrance hall of La Fayette Galleries Beijing, surrounded by traffic spaces on three sides and featuring a structural pillar within a 30-square-meter area. The pop-up store needed to accommodate flows from three directions while ensuring products remained visible. Therefore, we designed the pop-up store as an installation combining exhibition and retail, integrating with the site’s structural pillar.

在装置形体的尝试中,我们将装置分为了两个部分:靠近入口的部分和远离入口靠近柱子的部分,入口的部分为低矮平缓弯曲的状态,用于摆放产品,使得顾客进入老佛爷百货的时候不至于产生压迫感,而在第二部分让装置缠绕柱子形成一个视觉高点,这样就形成一个高与低、舒展与缠绕、松弛与紧凑的对比。整个装置由15根直径75cm的圆管组成,根据不同的区域进行合并或者分离,有多种组合变化,装置造型在三个坐标维度上进行弯曲、缠绕,形成一种动态生动的视觉效果。
In attempting to shape the installation, we divided it into two parts: the entrance area and the area farther from the entrance near the pillar. The entrance part is low, flat, and curved, used for displaying products, so that customers entering La Fayette Galleries do not feel oppressed. The second part lets the installation intertwine around the pillar, forming a visual high point. This creates a contrast between high and low, stretched and intertwined, loose and compact. The entire installation consists of 15 circular tubes with a diameter of 75cm, merging or separating according to different areas, allowing for multiple combinations and transformations. The installation’s form bends and intertwines across three dimensional axes, creating a dynamic and vivid visual effect.

材料

针对午观品牌理念和品牌颜色,我们选用不同的红色布料将整个装置包裹起来,形成一种表面编织的效果。在材料选择上,我们尝试了麻布、棉布、真丝等布料来感受其表面质感和透明度;选用了同色系的4种红色1种紫色进行编织,其中深红色比例控制在80%,浅红色与紫色分别控制在10%的色彩比例,以形成整体和局部的颜色跳跃。
Considering Wu Guan’s brand philosophy and colors, we chose different red fabrics to wrap the entire installation, creating a woven surface effect. In selecting materials, we experimented with linen, cotton, silk, and other fabrics to feel their textures and transparency. We selected four shades of red and one shade of purple from the same color family for weaving, controlling the proportion of dark red at 80%, with light red and purple each at 10% to create an overall and partial color contrast.

在布料编织的过程中,我们尝试了几种颜色并排缠绕、交叉缠绕、双色交叉缠绕、自由缠绕的方式来尝试不同的效果,使其在一定规则下又有意料之外的感受。
During the fabric weaving process, we tried several methods such as side-by-side wrapping, cross-wrapping, double-color cross-wrapping, and free wrapping to explore different effects, aiming for a feeling that is both rule-based and unexpected.

我们将已有产品,例如抱枕、靠枕、挂毯等,根据产品尺寸结合装置的不同弯曲和起伏形态进行陈列展示。在设计过程中,我们通过产品平铺摆放、吊挂、倚靠、堆叠、场景搭建等方式多元的呈现出来,突出产品的多样性和功能性。
We displayed existing products such as throw pillows, cushions, and hanging rugs according to their sizes and combined with the installation’s different curved and undulating forms. During the design process, we presented the products diversely through methods such as flat laying, hanging, leaning, stacking, and scene-building, highlighting their diversity and functionality.

技术

装置我们先采用3D打印与数控来分解模型和控制圆管双曲的弯度,然后进行焊接和锚固拼接,整个装置采用独立柱脚固定,悬空放置于地面。我们将柱子外包裹一层龙骨来固定缠绕的圆管,避免了结构吊挂和落地支撑,使其有保持悬浮自由感。
We used 3D printing and numerical control to decompose the model and control the double-curved bending of the circular tubes before welding, anchoring, and assembling the installation. The entire installation uses independent pedestals for fixation, suspended above the ground. We wrapped the pillar with a layer of keel to fix the intertwined circular tubes, avoiding structural hanging and ground support, maintaining a sense of suspension and freedom.

我们在设计商业快闪店的时候,要充分考虑品牌特点、设计创意、成本和时间之间的关系,要在固定成本内发挥有效的创意概念,尽可能的实现设计、展示与功能的平衡。同时商业的搭建时间往往很短暂,要考虑有效的制作手段、搭建方式和运输方式,以保证快闪店、装置能够有效的落地。前期要与商业和所在区域充分沟通所需要的资料、搭建条件,特别是在分工很细致的商业体内,往往会根据时间内容的推进产生新的要求,为了避免影响大的调整,需要前期与各个部门细致沟通,以确保设计与搭建的完成度。
When designing a commercial pop-up store, we must fully consider the relationship between brand characteristics, design creativity, cost, and time. We should leverage effective creative concepts within a fixed budget, striving to achieve a balance between design, display, and functionality. Additionally, commercial construction time is often limited, so we must consider effective manufacturing methods, construction methods, and transportation methods to ensure the effective implementation of the pop-up store and installation. Early communication with the commercial entity and the local area regarding required materials and construction conditions is crucial, especially in a commercial complex with detailed divisions of labor, where new requirements may arise as time progresses. To avoid significant adjustments, detailed communication with various departments is necessary in the early stages to ensure the completion of design and construction.
