海棠林
Malus spectabilis forest
/

业主是生活在北京城里的一对中年夫妻，高强度的生活和工作压力，让他们希望在京郊拥有一个能暂时忘记城市喧嚣的场所。经过几个月在北京周边的实地考察，他们被场地西侧开阔的海棠林吸引，决定租下这处位于北京延庆下垙村的民宅，并改造成周末度假和经营的民宿。
The owner is a middle-aged couple living in the city of Beijing. The high-intensity pressure of life and work makes them hope to have a place in the suburbs of Beijing where they can temporarily forget the hustle and bustle of the city. After several months of on-site investigation around Beijing, they were attracted by the open Malus spectabilis Forest on the west side of the site and decided to rent this residential house located in Xiagang Village, Yanqing, Beijing, and transform it into a weekend vacation and business homestay.

基地位于村子西侧，占地约400平米，东侧和南北为道路和民宅。西侧紧邻场地的几棵大树、海棠林和远山构成了绝佳的观赏视角。一层老房子位于院子北侧，院内南侧和西侧内有几间临时搭建的砖房，现已破损严重，并阻碍了向西眺望的视线。
The site is located on the west side of the village, covering an area of about 400 square meters, with roads and residential buildings on the east and south sides. The several large trees, Malus spectabilis forests, and distant mountains adjacent to the site on the west side provide an excellent viewing angle. The one-story old house is located on the north side of the courtyard. There are several temporarily built brick houses on the south and west sides of the courtyard, which are now severely damaged and obstruct the view to the west.

一波三折
Ups and downs

设计初期，经过现场踏勘和业主讨论，我们确定了重点营造西侧开阔观赏面和内部庭院空间的设计思路。随着方案的深入，我们决定保留北侧老房，并在场地南侧放置一个朝向西侧海棠林的单坡弧形屋面，同时将不同标高的平台联系起来，这样不仅在形体上对西侧景观有所呼应，而且在屋顶形成了不断变化的观赏和游走空间。
In the early stage of design, after on-site investigation and discussions with the owners, we determined the design idea of focusing on creating an open viewing surface and inner courtyard space on the west side. As the plan progressed, we decided to retain the old house on the north side, and place a single-slope curved roof on the south side of the site facing the Malus spectabilis forest on the west side, while connecting platforms of different elevations. This not only echoes the landscape on the west side in form, but also forms a constantly changing viewing and walking space on the roof.

在项目进入建设审批阶段时业主被告知原有场地房屋产权存在问题，原有庭院西侧一半内不允许进行房屋建设。面对紧张的用地和较多的功能需求，我们改变了设计策略，将原方案西侧一层使用空间压缩到了东侧两层的形体内，形成了向西侧打开的L形半围合体量。通过在不同方向的开洞，不仅能提供多角度观景视角，而且外部抽象的矩形体量与北侧一层老房在形式语言上形成新旧对话的关系。
When the project entered the construction approval stage, the owner was informed that there were issues with the property rights of the original site houses, and construction of houses was not allowed within half of the west side of the original courtyard. Faced with tight land use and more functional requirements, we changed our design strategy by compressing the space used on the west side of the original plan into the form of two floors on the east side, forming an L-shaped semi enclosure that opens to the west. By opening holes in different directions, not only can multiple viewing angles be provided, but the abstract olume on the outside also forms a dialogue between old and new in formal language with the old rectangular vhouse on the north floor.

受限于用地条件，我们在庭院西侧与老房外侧走道采用轻质廊架的方式对庭院空间进行划分和限定，在西侧较大面积的廊架下面布置下沉休闲区，最大程度保留向西观景的需求。
Due to the limited land conditions, we use lightweight pergolas to divide and limit the courtyard space on the west side of the courtyard and the outer walkway of the old house. A sunken leisure area is arranged under the larger pergola on the west side to retain the need for viewing the west to the greatest extent.

入口空间
Entrance space

入口位于建筑与西侧围墙的交界处，我们希望它不是单一的功能空间。在视线上有暗示和引导的同时，能与建筑、景观和西侧的围墙在形式有一定的呼应，形成具有雕塑感的空间形态。通过对入口地面和墙面材质的改变，不仅强化了入口的引导性，同时将入口空间和内部庭院连为一体。
The entrance is located at the junction of the building and the west wall. We hope that it is not a single functional space. While providing hints and guidance in terms of sight, it can also echo the building, landscape and the west wall in form, forming a sculptural spatial form. By changing the entrance floor and wall materials, it not only strengthens the guiding nature of the entrance, but also connects the entrance space with the internal courtyard.

流动的庭院
Flowing courtyard

庭院内的三颗树木、西侧几个高大乔木和场地西侧一望无际的海棠林，让景观的蔓延有了可能。通过在庭院地面内置入几块不同标高的“七巧板”，让入口、庭院和西侧开敞的景观有机的联系起来。于是在建筑围合的矩形庭院内，地面就像树根一样延伸到庭院的各个方向——获得了一个自由模糊，访客能在不同标高、方向上游走和观景的庭院。
The three trees in the courtyard, several tall trees on the west side, and the endless Malus spectabilis forests on the west side of the site make it possible for the landscape to spread. By embedding several “tangram” pieces of different elevations on the ground of the courtyard, the entrance, courtyard, and the open landscape on the west side are organically connected. So within the rectangular courtyard enclosed by the building, the ground extends like tree roots in all directions of the courtyard – creating a free blur where visitors can walk and enjoy the view from different elevations and directions.

内与外
Internal and external

室内空间除了提供满足基本的庇护和使用功能外，较好的观景视角也是此次设计的重点。在南侧新建建筑中，一层大面积的落地窗、二层开敞的露台和有意控制开窗位置，都希望能打破室内与室外的界限，让庭院景观能蔓延到室内。通过地面材质和软装颜色的呼应，进一步模糊室内外的关系。
In addition to providing basic shelter and use functions, the indoor space also focuses on a good viewing angle. In the new building on the south side, the large floor-to-ceiling windows on the first floor, the open terrace on the second floor and the intentional control of the window positions are all intended to break the boundary between indoor and outdoor, allowing the courtyard landscape to spread indoors. The relationship between indoor and outdoor is further blurred by the echo of the ground material and the color of the soft furnishings.

在老房室内空间设计中，我们选择直接保留木梁，展现原始、质朴的自然气息，同时与新加阁楼和白色墙面形成新旧对话关系。
In the interior design of the old house, we chose to retain the wooden beams directly to show the original, rustic natural atmosphere, while forming a new and old dialogue relationship with the newly added attic and white walls.

北侧老房基本保留了原来的空间布局，除了在每间客房布置了居住、休闲区和卫生间等使用功能外，我们在朝向庭院的墙面设置了向外凸出的取景框。让每个房间有较好采光的同时，还能观赏到庭院的四季变化。
The old house on the north side basically retains the original spatial layout. In addition to arranging living, leisure and bathroom functions in each guest room, we set up a protruding view frame on the wall facing the courtyard. While allowing each room to have better lighting, it can also appreciate the changes of the courtyard in four seasons.
