DRAMATICAFE剧院魅饮咖啡是上海话剧艺术中心运营的咖啡品牌，一直以来的咖啡区域设置在话剧中心二楼的一个角落，主要服务于话剧院的观众，几乎不被场外游客知晓。然而随着近年来安福路潮流商业的兴起，话剧中心的咖啡也希望将门前的公共平台和门面升级改造为咖啡区域，将Dramaticafé推到台前，以期面对更多的受众。

As a coffee brand operated by the Shanghai Dramatic Art Center, the DRAMATICAFE which mainly served the audience of the theater before had been located in a corner of second floor. However, with the rise of trendy commerce on Anfu Road in recent years, the client hopes to upgrade the public platform and facade into a coffee area, wishing to attract more customers.

设计包含两部分：对外的咖啡售卖窗口和室外座椅。其中设计需应对几个硬性要求：1是因为不同活动的人流量的差异以及夜晚管理需求，座椅和咖啡台要方便移动。 2是耐用并且以比较低的造价内实现。因此轻便性和可复制等实用方面是重要的考量。

The design consists of two parts： the external coffee counter and the outdoor seating. The design needs to deal with several requirements： 1. Because of the different activities and night management needs, the seat and coffee table should be easy to move. 2. It is durable and it can be realized at a relatively low cost. Therefore portability and reproducibility are important practical considerations.

安福路上人流如织但沿途缺少休憩座椅的需求，激发了设计这一组室外座椅的灵感。我们希望这一组座椅具有应有的城市的公共性，成为行人游客沿途的驻足落脚点，顺便喝杯咖啡稍作休息，而不仅仅是一个只服务咖啡店的户外餐椅。因此我们将座椅分别布置于台阶和平台之上，增强了话剧中心这个城市平台的可达性和展示性

The lack of public rest area of bustling Anfu Road motives the outdoor seat design. This area should function as a public plaza. Therefore we prefer these chairs to be city’s facilities rather than the dining chair only for coffee shop. To realize this accessibility, we allocate the chairs from the stairs to the platform respectively.

在颜色的选择上，座椅的白色与话剧中心建筑坚固凝重形成对比，轻盈地跳脱了出来。平台上的座椅为可批量制作的模块化单元，布置时可根据实际情况调整拼接次序和方向，同时座椅的重量使得工作人员可以借助设备自由地调整座椅得布局方式，而游客不方便轻松移动。树枝状的形态如同突触，向行人呈现一种邀请的姿态。

The white seat jumped out easily by contrasting with the sturdy and dignified building of the drama center. The modular seat units on the platform can be produced in batches, so staff can adjust the splicing order and direction according to the actual situation by equipment. The tree-like shape presents an inviting gesture to pedestrians.

咖啡台的设计以退为进，以一个凹进的三角面向两个方向的来客，塑造了“开放”的空间形象，光条在中心向四周辐射发散，邀请人们来此体验。话剧中心室内的主基调是白色与铜，咖啡台的配色形象也由此出发，铜色如同外立面向内凹陷，白色则是室内向外立面的延伸。

The café counter shows its welcome gesture to both direction of street by creating a brass triangle shape which also distinguishes the coffee making area and reception area. The liner light in between the two face magnifies the perspective effect. The coffee counter is the combination of sunken copper façade and outward extension of white interior of Dramatic Art Center.
